Everyone has that favorite book from childhood that you made your parents read until their heads almost exploded…Mine was The Berenstain Bears Spooky Old Tree. I’m not sure what the fascination was it’s a pretty short story but I Loved it! I can still remember my mom trying to talk me into another book…any other book. it never worked. When I got little’s in the house it was one of the first books I had to buy. So it sits proudly on my bookshelf.
The story is pretty simple, 3 little bears to out after dark to explore a spooky tree & scare themselves silly in the process. They have to find a way inside the tree then they lose their flash light, lose their walking stick, lose their rope & then lose their cool as they run over a sleeping bear that chases them out. They all make it home & everyone is happy. This series has a lot of good books in it from manners to Christmas & I have yet to find one I didn’t like. The illustration on these has a classic 70-80’s cartoon vibe…which makes me like them even more! They are designed for new readers so the words are easy to follow & most K-1st graders will be able to read along with you.
I would get a a few in the series, kids can’t have enough book options. If your kid has a kindle they do have an option to download this one so even geeky kids can enjoy the story.
